Grid and Renewables Engineer

With a focus on the UK and Mongolia power sectors, we provide comprehensive technical and commercial guidance, driving innovation and sustainability within the sector.
As our workload soars, we’re on the hunt for a talented individual to join our vibrant team. We will train you to become a valued member and an exceptional Grid Engineer. You will start off learning how to assess the UK and Mongolian electricity transmission and distribution networks, focusing on opportunities for existing generation, demand, and battery storage projects before moving on to more complex tasks/analysis within the sector.

Tasks & responsibilities
• Assess and review power transmission and distribution networks and identify generation, demand, and battery storage project connection opportunities.
• Conduct due diligence studies for potential projects, providing clients with details on how technical risks can impact their projects and how they can be mitigated.
• Prepare connection applications and single-line diagrams.
• Conduct network modelling on IPSA power system analysis tool (longer-term task).
• Conduct and model curtailment assessment, and constraint analysis and prepare draft reports (longer-term task).
• Engage with clients and network developers on the project’s pre-development and development process (longer-term task).

• An expert in making quick technical conclusions by reviewing a variety of comprehensive data and information (including where not all of the data is available).
• An experienced energy consultant with strong technical and commercial knowledge of distribution and transmission networks and renewable and battery storage project planning and optimization.
• A modern engineer with a deep understanding of how networks operate and how smart solutions can avoid challenging network reinforcement.

Requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• An eagerness to learn new tasks and skills quickly, making decisions based on a firm understanding of concepts,
• Preferred Engineering graduate with 2+ years of experience preferably related to Energy or Electricity Networks. However, excellent graduates with a technical background who have an analytical mind, and can pick up new skills quickly are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills both in English and Mongolian are mandatory.
• Strong Microsoft Excel Skills or, Phyton will be a bonus, but not mandatory,
• Experience with power system analysis tools (PSCAD, DIgSILENT, IPSA) will be a bonus, but not mandatory.
• People with IT backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
